At Arlington Paws, We're always looking for ways to improve our services and provide the best care possible for your pets. 

We will be making some small schedule adjustments to help optimize our daily routes, improve consistency, and reduce travel time and fuel consumption. These changes will allow us to continue delivering reliable, high quality care to every pet.

An email will be sent to all active clients with more details and any necessary adjustments. We truly appreciate your flexibility and support as we continue to grow.

Heat Advisory: Keeping Your Dog Safe This Week

With temperatures forecasted to reach between 98°F and 102°F this week, please take extra precautions to ensure your dog stays safe and comfortable. Because dogs cannot regulate their body temperature the way humans do, they are at a much higher risk for heat-related illness.

To help keep your pets safe, please keep the following tips in mind:

Protect Their Paws

Pavement, asphalt, and even artificial turf can reach dangerously high temperatures, far exceeding the air temperature.

  • The 7-Second Test: Before heading out, place the back of your hand firmly on the surface for seven seconds. If it is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for your dog's paws.

  • Stick to Grass: Whenever possible, walk your dog on grassy areas or in shaded spots to keep them off hot surfaces.

  • Time Your Walks: Plan your walks for the coolest parts of the day—early morning or late evening—when the ground has had a chance to cool down.

Be Aware of Heat Stroke

Heat stroke is a serious, life-threatening condition. Knowing the signs can help you act quickly if your dog becomes overheated.

Common signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke include:

  • Excessive or rapid, noisy panting.

  • Bright red, dark red, or dry gums and tongue.

  • Lethargy, weakness, or stumbling.

  • Confusion or disorientation.

  • Vomiting or diarrhea.

What to Do If You Suspect Overheating

If you believe your dog is suffering from heat-related illness, move them to a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned area immediately. You can help them cool down by gently rinsing their paws or body with cool water—do not use ice or freezing cold water, as this can cause further complications.

Please contact your veterinarian or an emergency animal clinic immediately if you suspect heat stroke, as your dog will require professional medical evaluation.

Your proactive care makes all the difference in keeping your pets happy and healthy during this heat wave.

WE understand that military life can come with demanding schedules and unexpected changes, and our goal is to make pet care one less thing to worry about. Your pets will always be treated like part of the Arlington paws family, with the attention, care, and compassion they deserve. 

To receive the military discount, we kindly ask that active military members provide a valid active duty military ID prior to the start of services. This requirement helps us confirm eligibility for the discount program.

Rate adjustments

Upcoming Rate Adjustment Effective June 1

At Arlington Paws, we remain committed to providing reliable, high quality care for your pets. To continue maintaining the level of services you will expect, a rate adjustment will take effect Starting June 1.

Please note that regular clients with at least 3 walks per week will not be affected by this change. Their current rates will remain the same.

We strive to keep our pricing fair while ensuring the best care, attention, and reliability for every pet we serve. As always, we will communicate openly and keep you informed of any updates.
